콜롬비아족제비

콜롬비아족제비(Mustela felipei)는 콜롬비아 우일라 주카우카 주[2]에콰도르 북부 지역 근처(한 점의 표본만이 알려져 있는 지역)에서만 서식하는 것으로 알려져 있는 희귀종의 일종이다.[1] 학명은 포유류 학자 필립 "돈 펠리페" 허쉬코비츠(Philip "Don Felipe" Hershkovitz)의 이름에서 유래했다.[3] 해발 고도 1,100~2,700m 높이의 강기슭 서식지에서 제한적으로 발견된다. 광범위한 삼림 벌채가 이루어지는 안데스 산맥 북부 지역의 콜롬비아에콰도르에 제한적으로 분포하며, 알려진 표본이 10점 이하로[1] 남아메리카에 서식하는 식육류 중에서 가장 희귀종으로 추정하고 있다.[4] IUCN 적색 목록에서 취약 근접종(VU, Vulnerable species)으로 분류하고 있다.[1] 평균 몸길이가 현존하는 식육목 종 중에서 두번째로 작으며, 쇠족제비보다는 약간 크고 북방족제비보다 약간 작다.[5] 상체와 꼬리 부분은 거무스름한 갈색을 띠는 반면에, 하체는 오렌지-담황색을 띤다.
