다윈여우

다윈여우(Lycalopex fulvipes)는 개과 남아메리카여우속에 속하는 작은 포유류의 일종이다. 멸종위급종(CR, Critically endangered species)으로 칠레 대륙과 칠로에섬의 나우엘부타 국립공원(아라우카니아 주)과 발디비아 해안 지대(로스리오스 주)에서 서식한다.[3] 다윈여우는 1834년 박물학자 찰스 다윈이 칠레 연안의 산페드로 섬에서 처음 수집했다. 다윈여우는 오랫동안 남아메리카회색여우의 아종으로 간주되어 왔지만, 1990년 대륙의 나우엘부타 국립공원에서 작은 개체군이 발견되었고,[4] 이어지는 유전학적 분석 결과에 의해 별도의 종으로 승격하여 분류하고 있다.[5] 2012년과 2013년, 온콜 공원과 알레르세 코스테로 국립공원, 발디비아 해안 보전 지구에서 사진 촬영됨에 따라 그 존재가 확인되었다.[3]
