1944년 이후 전세가 바뀌어 소련이 거꾸로 핀란드로 침공해오자 핀란드는 독일과 맺었던 [[동맹]]을 파기하고 독일군을 공격하게 된다. 두 [[강대국]] 사이에 낀 핀란드로서는 어쩔 수 없는 선택이었다. 지금도 핀란드는 [[경제]] 체제는 서방식 [[자본주의]] 체제를, 군사 무기 체계는 [[소련]]식을 유지하는 등 강대국 사이에서 균형을 유지하고 있다.
