스트루베 2398은 발트-독일계 천문학자 프리드리히 게오르크 빌헬름 폰 스트루페의 《스트루페 이중성 목록》에서 2398번을 받은 항성이다. 목록 작성자의 성이자 항성 식별자 '스트루베'는 종종 그리스 문자 [[Σ|시그마]](Σ)로 표기하기도 한다. 계의 구성원들은 너무 어두워 맨눈으로 볼 수 없으나 스트루베 2398 계는 태양계에서 [[가까운 항성 목록|매우 가까운]] 축에 속한다. [[히파르코스 (인공위성)|히파르코스 우주선]]이 측정한 [[연주 시차]]로부터 구한 이 계와 태양 사이 거리는 약 11.6 광년이다.<ref name="van Leeuwen2007" />
