Groundhog Day is an annual holiday celebrated on February 2[1] in the United States and Canada. According to folklore, if a groundhog emerging from its burrow on this day fails to see its shadow, it will leave the burrow, signifying that winter will soon end. If on the other hand, the groundhog sees its shadow, the groundhog will supposedly retreat into its burrow, and winter will continue for six more weeks.[2]
그라운드호그 데이(성촉절)은 미국과 캐나다에서 매 2월 2일에 열리는 기념일이다. 전해지는 민간 신앙에 따르면, 그라운드 호그(날씨는 점치는 쥐)가 굴에서 나와 자기 그림자를 보지 못한다면 굴을 떠날 것이고, 그것은 겨울이 끝난다는 것 을 암시한다. 그런데 반대로 그라운드 호그가 그림자를 본다면 아마 다시 자기 굴로 들어갈 것이고, 겨울은 6주 동안 더 지속될 것이다.
