English: The "fence" at Carnegie Mellon University. According to the tour guides, in the 1920s there was a fence marking a boundary where there was a ravine. Battling between the administration and the students resulted in this fence being denoted as a marker which has implications for CMU tradition. Students can paint it provided they use 1920s technology (no spray paint).
