English: Located in Aberdeen, Mississippi, Gregg-Hamilton, built in 1850, was home to Mary Frances "Molly" Garth Gregg, widow of Civil War General John Gregg, CSA and prolific Mississippi author Charles Granville Hamilton. After General Gregg was lost defending Richmond in October of 1864, Molly traveled for many weeks to Richmond to retrieve her husband's remains. After an arduous journey to Mississippi, she buried him in Aberdeen, where her father had substantial land holdings. She purchased Gregg-Hamilton to be close to him. More than a century later, Dr. Hamilton wrote the majority of his poetry and books at Gregg-Hamilton including "Mississippi I Love You", "You Can't Steal First Base" and his epic civil war poem "The Flag was Flame".
