오은경(eng: Eunkyung OH; rus. Ынгёнг О)교수는 한국외국어대학교를 졸업하고, 터키 하제테페 대학교에서 터키문학과 비교문학으로 석사와 문학박사(Ph. D)학위를 받았다(1999).

Oh, Eun-Kyung | Dongduk Women's University, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Education Professor Without a doubt, Professor Oh is a world-renowned scholar on the Turkology,  but she does not get much attention from the Korean media and academia.  She could hardly have a chance to conduct major lectures in Korean universities due to Korean custom which provides less opportunity or support to scholars pursuing minor studies.

이후 한국학 중앙 연구원에서 박사후 과정(Post-doc)을 마쳤으며(2000-2001), 우즈베키스탄 국립학술원에서 우즈베크 구비문학과 민속학, 비교문학으로 우즈베키스탄 최초로 인문학 국가 박사학위(Doctor of Philology, professor 학위)를 취득했다(2013). 우즈베키스탄 학술원 회원이며(2017), 아제르바이잔 작가동맹 명예회원이다(2018). 아제르바이잔 Vector 학술원에서 명예박사 학위를 받았다.

주요 경력으로는 문화방송 MBC 터키 통신원, 터키 국립 앙카라 대학교 외국인 전임 교수, 우즈베키스탄 니자미 사범대학교 한국학 교수를 역임했다. 현재는 동덕여자대학교 교양대학 교수로 재직 중이며, 유라시아투르크 연구소 소장을 겸하고 있다. 동시에 UNESCO Category 2기관인 아태무형문화센터 자문위원, 한국연구재단 학술지 평가위원 등을 역임했다. 그 외에 대통령 직속기구 북방경제협력위원회 민간위원, KF 한·중앙아협력포럼, 법무부 난민위원회, 서울시 도시외교 및 다문화 자문위원 등을 맡고 있다. 그 외에도 영어, 터키어, 우즈벡어, 러시아어로　발표한 150여편이 넘는 논문과 칼럼 그리고 40권 정도의 저서가 있다.

그는 지난해 말 아제르바이잔 문학연구소로부터 ‘2020 최고의 학자’로 선정됐다. 아제르바이잔 문학연구소는 2014년부터 아제르바이잔 민족시인 니자미 겐제비(Nizami Gencevi)의 업적을 전 세계에 알리고자 매년 인문학-투르크학 분야 연구자 중에서 최고의 학자를 선정해 시상하고 있는데, 한국인인 그가 선정된 것이다. 그는 올해 초 아제르바이잔 벡토르(VECTOR) 국제 학술원으로부터 명예박사학위를 받기도 했다. 벡토르 국제학술원이 한국인에게 명예박사학위를 준 것은 이번이 처음이었다.

" 이날 출판기념식을 가진 『귈뤼스탄의 시』의 저자 배흐티야르 와합자대는 아제르바이잔의 대표적인 민족 시인이자 독립운동가로 현재 아제르바이잔에서 가장 사랑받는 시인으로 알려져 있다. 아제르바이잔의 굴곡진 역사 속 민족과 시대의 아픔을 대변하고자했던 배흐티야르의 『귈뤼스탄의 시』는 대산문화재단의 지원을 받아 우리 대학 유라시아투르크연구소 오은경 교수가 번역하였다. 한국어로 번역 된 국내 최초의 아제르바이잔 문학작품인 『귈뤼스탄의 시』는 이미 구소련, 튀르크 국가들, 유럽과 미국에서는 매우 잘 알려져 있으며, 그의 작품은 20여개의 언어로 세계 각국에 번역이 되어있을 정도로 그 가치를 인정받고 있다. 행사에서 발표를 맡은 오은경 교수는 “아제르바이잔은 투르크국가로서 굉장히 중요한 역할과 비중이 있는 나라이며 한국과 유사한 고난의 역사를 겪은 나라” 임을 전하며 양국 간의 협력 가능성을 제시하였고, 참석자들로부터 뜨거운 호응을 받았다."
