Sungho Kang(June 1959~) is a Historian in Republic of Korea.

Education 편집

He received his doctorate in 1993 after completing undergraduate and graduate courses at the Department of History, Korea University. Afterwards, in 1997-1998, he took a post-doctoral course at the Free University of Berlin, Germany.

Service 편집

In 1998, he joined the Department of History at Sunchon National University as a professor. From 1997 to 1998, he was a Visiting Scholar at the Free University of Berlin, Germany, and from 2006 to 2007, he was a Visiting Scholar at UC Berkeley. He served as the director of Sunchon National University's Jirisan Cultural Research Institute and the head of the Humanities Korea Project, the head of the Humanities Academy and the university's key research institute, the director of the museum, the director of the Korea University Museum Association, and the dean of graduate schools. He served as Editor-in-Chief and Chairman of the Korean Society of Western History, Editor-in-Chief and Chairman of the Korean Society of German History, Chairman of the Honam Society of History, Chairman of the Academic Journal Development Committee of the National Research Foundation of Korea, President of the National Association of Core Research Institutes of Universities, President of the Korean Asscociation of Humanities and Social Sciences Institutes, a Member of the Humanities Policy Committee in the National Research Council for Economics, Humanities, and Social Sciences under the Prime Minister.

He is conducting comparative research on the reinterpretation of Eurocentric world history.
