신경행동학
신경행동학(Neuroethology)이란 진화론적이며 비교학적인 방식으로 동물이 유전적으로 설정된 신경계에 의해 행동하고 시스템적인 메커니즘에서 통제가 이루어지는 것을 연구하는 학문이다.[1][2][3] 예를 들어 박쥐가 음파에 의해서 어떻게 감각지도를 변환하는지나 가시고기의 부성애와 돌고기의 탁란 등을 연구하는 것이다.[4] 행동의 생리적 기반인 동물의 뇌-신경계에서 일어나는 여러 가지 현상을 신경생리학적으로 연구하는 생물학의 한분야이다. 중추신경계가 어떻게 운동을 제어하여 패턴화되는가, 어떤 신경 · 생리과정이 동기부여에 영향을 미치는가, 경험에 의한 정보가 어떻게 뇌에 보존되는가, 동물을 둘러싼 환경의 무수한 자극 속에서 어떻게 특정한 열쇠자극을 추출하는가 등을 다루는 학문이다.[5]
