에릭 칼

에릭 칼(Eric Carle, 1929년 6월 25일 ~ 2021년 5월 23일)은 미국의 아동 도서 작가, 디자이너, 일러스트레이터였다. 1969년에 처음 출간된 그의 그림책 <배고픈 애벌레>(The Very Hungry Caterpillar)는 66개 이상의 언어로 번역되어 5천만 부 이상 판매되었다. 일러스트레이터이자 아동 도서 작가로서의 칼의 경력은 "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?"를 공동 작업한 이후 가속화되었다. 칼은 70권이 넘는 책에 그림을 그렸으며, 그 중 대부분은 자신도 집필했으며, 그의 책은 전 세계적으로 1억 4,500만 권 이상이 판매되었다.
