스트라스부르는 국립극장, 국립도서관과 대학도서관, 국립라인오페라 등 잘 알려진 문화 기관들이 포진해 있어서 문화의 중심지이기도 하다. 다른 한편으로, 스트라스부르는 [[교육]]의 도시이다. 스트라스부르 내의 대학들은 과감히 세계로 문을 개방하였는데, 20%가 넘는 외국학생 비율과, 100개국 이상의 학생들이 공부하고 있다는 사실이 이를 뒷받침해준다. [[프랑스어]]의 첫 기록인 [[스트라스부르 서약]]이 쓰여진 곳이기도 하다.
