English: The Chuning Tomb, in the present day Qilin Town near Nanjing, is the tomb of en:Emperor Wu of Liu Song (363–422). All that remains there are two qilin statues, facing each other across a mostly residential street in the appropriately named Qilinpu ("Qilin capture") neighborhood of the Qilin Town.
There is a fairly similar photo - taken some 20+ years earlier - of the same qilin in Ann Paludan's "The Chinese Spirit Road" (1991); Fig. 50 on p. 54. The relief decorating the front of the animal is somewhat more prominent in Paludan's photo than in this one. I don't know if this has to do with the actual erosion (over just 20 years?!), or simply with different lighting conditions / color balance etc.
