This aircraft had started its life with United Airlines in 1997 (N789UA), before being stored in Goodyear, Arizona, six years later, in the wake of United's bankruptcy and reorganization. It went on to serve with Air India from 2005 to 2010, and now Omni has just leased it and added it to its fleet. This aircraft is Omni's first 777, as well as the first 777 to enter service with a US charter airline for use in transporting US military personnel. (Incidentally, another former United aircraft also entered US military charter duty in 2011 - N194UA, a Boeing 747, still owned by United, leased and operated by Atlas Air). McCarran Airport is a surprisingly spotter-friendly place; along its southern perimeter, there is a parking area for spotters, and there is even a low-powered FM frequency (101.1 MHz) that broadcasts control tower communications.
