macOS 모하비

macOS 모하비(macOS Mojave, 버전 10.14)은 애플의 15번째 macOS 운영체제로, 2018년 6월 4일(태평양표준시)에 WWDS 2018에서 공개되었으며, 같은 해 9월 24일에 정식 출시되었다. "모하비"라는 이름은 캘리포니아주 모하비 사막을 가리킨다.[1] 이전 버전은 macOS 하이 시에라이었고, 이후 macOS 카탈리나가 후속 기기로 출시되었다.

macOS 모하비는 애플 뉴스, 음성 메모, 홈킷과 이전보다 포괄적인 다크 모드가 추가되었으며, 32비트 응용 소프트웨어를 지원하는 마지막 macOS이기도 하다.[2][3] 구형 사진 앱을 지원하는 마지막 macOS이기도 하며, macOS 모하비는 출시 후, 대체적으로 긍정적인 평가를 받았다.

개요 편집

macOS 모하비는 2018년 6월 4일에 애플 세계 개발자 회의에서 처음 공개되었으며,[4][5][6] 애플은 이 macOS의 이름을 캘리포니아 주의 사막에서 따왔다고 밝혔다. 같은 날, 운영체제 개발자 시사회에서도 공개되었고,[7] 6월 26일에는 베타 버전도 공개되었다.[8] 9월 24일에 공식적으로 출시되었다.[9]

지원 기기 편집

macOS 모하비는 메탈을 지원하는 GPU를 필요로 하며, 실행되는 기기가 macOS 하이 시에라보다 제한적이다.[10] 실행되는 모델은 다음과 같은 메킨토시 컴퓨터들이다.[11]

macOS 모하브는 언론과 전문가에게 대체적으로 긍정적인 평가를 받았다. 더 버지는 모하비가 다른 버전들에 비해 새로운 것들이 적었다고 평가했지만,[12] 반대로 제이슨 스넬은 이번 버전이 앞으로의 macOS의 방향을 결정할 것이라고 평가했다.[13] 아르스 테크니카의 앤드류 커닝햄은 "macOS 모하브는 이전 버전에 비해 크게 변하진 않았지만, 결과적으로는 다른 버전들보다 변화가 큰 것 같다."고 평가했으며, Cunningham은 macOS 모하브를 평가하면서 애플에게 좀 더 생산적이고, macOS의 꾸준한 개발을 강조했다.[14]

테크크런치의 브라인 히터는 macOS 모하브의 출시를 "최근의 가장 기억에 남는 macOS 출시 기기"라고 불렀으며,[15] macOS 모하브의 다크 모드도 호평을 받았다.[16][17][18][19]
