동남아시아가시쥐속(Maxomys)은 쥐아과에 속하는 설치류 속의 하나이다. 동남아시아에 널리 분포한다.^[1] 중간 크기의 설치류로 시궁쥐와 유사하며, 열대 우림의 땅 위에서 서식한다. 나무에서 떨어진 잎을 덧대어 둥지를 만든다. 뿌리와 떨어진 과일, 식물 그리고 곤충을 먹는다. 모든 종이 겁이 많고, 사람들로부터 먹이를 피한다. 동남아시아가시쥐속은 원래 시궁쥐속의 아속으로 간주했다. 1960년대 별도의 속으로 분류되기 시작하면서, 동남아시아가시쥐속은 흰배쥐속과 긴꼬리자이언트쥐속과 관련을 짓기도 했다. 현재 분류는 1979년 무세르(Musser)와 마샬(Marshall) 그리고 보아디(Boeadi)가 수용한 분류이다.^[2]^[3]
