줄말속(--屬, 학명: Ruppia 루피아^[*])은 택사목의 단형 과인 줄말과(--科, 학명: Ruppiaceae 루피아케아이^[*])에 속하는 유일한 속이다.^[1]^[2] 줄말(Ruppia maritima) 등을 포함하고 있다. 비교적 소수의 식물 분류학자들에게 알려져 왔다. 2003년의 APG II 분류 체계(1998년의 APG 분류 체계에서 변하지 않음)는 외떡잎식물군 내의 택사목으로 분류하였다. AP-웹사이트에 의하면, 이 과는 키모도케아과(Cymodoceaceae)와 혼동되는 측면이 있다. 키모도케아과, 포시도니아과 그리고 줄말과의 3개 과 식물은 일종의 단계통군을 형태를 띤다.

1981년의 크론퀴스트 분류 체계는 이 과를 속씨식물문(Magnoliophyta, [=angiosperms]) 내의 백합강(Liliopsida, [=monocotyledons]) 내의 택사아강(Alismatidae)의 나자스말목(Najadales)으로 분류하였다.
